A Few Days at The Beach....

3068_d0165_content.jpgDuring the days following Memorial Day more than 250 industry professionals gathered at the beach for the second annual Spring meeting of the Nutrition Industry Association. In keeping with the tradition to "meet, educate and collaborate" the Spring Meeting got off to a wonderful start. Individuals representing 115 companies had the chance to connect with colleagues, meet new people, gather information on the latest issues affecting our industry, and even do a little business. Sponsoring companies along with our founding members made the conference happen. You will see them listed under the tabs on the right of this page. Without their support it would have been a very different meeting.

This year's meeting hosted 8 industry experts who presented timely information on a wide variety of topics that impact us all. Information on the individuals and downloads of their presentations are available by clicking on the presentations button on the right and logging in.

We also enjoyed a round of golf on the amazingly beautiful Pelican Hill South course, an early morning run/walk along the beach, a remarkably successful whale watching trip and a very fruitful tidepool tour. Sand Castles, Bocce Ball and S’mores by the campfire along with Beach Boy’s  tunes  and the constant sound of waves in the background, helped shape a conference we won’t soon forget.  The desserts and nightcaps reception was packed, and at our final breakfast on the lawn overlooking the Pacific, we were already planning what we were going to do next year.

A big thank you goes to the volunteers who helped put it all together especially to this year’s chair Windy Kvandal of Glanbia. There are countless hours, emails, phone calls, and more that go into an event like this. We think you’ll agree the efforts produced a remarkable result.

Plan now for the fall one-day event to be held on November 2, at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Registration opens in July so be sure to check back at that time to ensure you get a seat at the table and to see what we are planning as we get closer to the date. Last year’s event was one to be remembered and if the Spring meeting is anything to gauge progress by, the next Fall meeting should be on your calendar.

And as for next Spring....we’ll be seeing you at the beach!
