A Few Days in Laguna...

The week before Memorial Day more than 200 industry professionals gathered in Laguna for the annual NIA Spring Meeting. This year's meeting hosted 7 sessions with industry experts presenting timely information on a wide variety of topics covering everything from DNA testing of herbal ingredients, to marketing to millennials, to the impact of our personal microbiomes on our health. If you are interested in a copy of their presentations…you’ll find them by clicking the Presentations button on the right. If you’d like to see the presentation again, we have the videos posted for a limited time. Thank you to all our speakers who took time out of their busy schedules to share their experience and wisdom with us.

We can look back at a great round of golf at the exclusive El Niguel Country Club, an early morning walk along the shore, a venture out to see humpback whales and dolphins, or for some of us, a visit to a local winery where we blended our own bottles of red wine. While we can’t offer a reminiscent taste of the wine, you can click here for the drone video of the whale watching excursion. We enjoyed a spirited bocce ball tournament, s’mores by the campfire and an opportunity to spend some time with old friends, make some new ones and do a little business as well. We woke to the sound of surf against the shore and seagulls floating above the bluffs and whenever we looked out, there was the view of the beautiful Pacific.

The desserts and nightcaps reception was packed, and we had no problem finishing off the Methusaleh of champagne - 48 glasses to a bottle! By breakfast on Thursday we were already talking about next year. Work on that starts this week! Click on the Photos button on the right for a photo recap of our meeting. Jon captured some great images and you can download them directly from the site. A big thank you to our sponsors. It is because of their generosity that we were able to put on the meeting in the first place.

Another big thank you goes to the volunteers who helped put it all together, and especially to this year’s co-chairs Barbara Vice of Horn and Griselda Beck of Natural Alternatives. There are countless hours, emails, phone calls, and more that go into an event like this. We think you’ll agree it was worth the effort. We’ll see you in November for our fall meeting. Details will be posted shortly.
